The Time Is Now… – Fall 2009
A devised work written by students in THP 112: Acting I and Spotlight Productions
October 22-23, 2009 in SMCC Performance Hall
It’s easy to assume we have all the time in the world to do what we want to do and say what we want to say. Yet often that time is cut short when a person we love or a commodity we depend on is suddenly gone in an instant. How do we live realistically in the world without taking things for granted? How does the awareness of an uncertain future shape the choices we make today?
These and similar questions are explored in SMCC’s production of The Time Is Now!, an original play that was devised collaboratively between the academic and extracurricular theatre programs. Students in THP 112: Acting I and members of Spotlight Productions, the campus theatre club, have worked together to create this ensemble piece that combines personal story, collective experience, movement, monologue, poetry, and other elements of performance.
