South Mountain hosted Glendale Saturday afternoon in a conference match-up pitting some former Cougars against their old team. The Cougars would come out on top 99-96 in an intense game that went down to the wire as Glendale just missed a 3 point attempt as time expired to send the game into overtime. The victory was the first of the year in conference for the Cougs.
Leading the way for the Cougars was James Sosinski and Desmond Johnson. Sosinski had a season high 31 points and 12 rebounds. Desmond Johnson had a solid all around night for the Cougars with 25 points, 9 assists, 4 steals and 6 rebounds. Ferron Flavors hit three early three’s and finished 4-7 behind the arc to add 24 points. Bryan Battle had 13 points and 10 rebounds.
The Cougars improve to (9-6,1-6) on the season and next travel to Douglas to play Cochise on January 11th at 730pm.
