Kyle Porter grew up in Albuquerque, NM where he excelled in the sport of soccer and grew a passion for all things athletics. Kyle attended Eldorado High School, winning two 5A State Championships and captained one runner up, receiving 1st Team All-State Honors. In Kyle’s club soccer career he captained three state championship teams, one runner up team, and earned a Region IV runner up and semi-finalist in Region IV. Kyle also made the Region IV ODP pool (top 40 players in the region). After high school, Kyle attended Trinity University in San Antonio, TX on scholarship and was a member of the men’s soccer team. While playing for Trinity, Kyle won four SCAC conference championships, making the NCAA tournament every year and going as far as the Elite Eight once and the Sweet Sixteen three times. Trinity University Men’s Soccer was ranked number one in the country every year Kyle played. He earned All-Conference honors three of his four years, being on the second team once and the first team twice while also earning All-Region honors. Kyle was the team captain as a Junior and Senior. While at Trinity, he earned his Bachelors of Science degree in Business Administration with dual concentrations in Finance and Marketing. In 2016, Trinity University was ranked the 6th best academic school in the United States for their under graduate programs and #1 in Texas, so academics is Kyle’s top priority. Unfortunately, while in college, Kyle suffered a torn labrum in both of his hips and a torn ACL all requiring surgery and months of rehabilitation and had to end his soccer career thereafter. However, through his playing experience, Kyle gained a massive respect for the game and has made it his life’s work to help others accomplish their goals in the classroom, on the pitch, and in the weight room. This is Kyle’s first year as the head women’s coach for South Mountain CC and his second year as the girl’s strength and conditioning coach. In addition to coaching at SMCC, Kyle is in his fourth year of club coaching with Ahwatukee Foothills Soccer Club where he is also the strength and conditioning coach. In addition to coaching club, Kyle owns his own business (Porter’s Athletic Performance) as a performance coach working with top players around Phoenix, helping to place them into elite NCAA programs around the country, including, Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University, University of Arizona, Grand Canyon University, University of Hawaii, University of Notre Dame, Regis College, Fort Lewis College, Western Oregon, Florida Atlantic University, and others. Kyle also holds the position of strength and conditioning coach for local club Phoenix Premier and the local NPSL (National Professional Soccer League) team FC Arizona. Kyle’s first passion is soccer and performance coaching a close second. He holds his USSF (United States Soccer Federation) “D” License and also many other performance coaching related licenses, including his ACE-Certified Personal Training, Group Fitness Instructor, and Youth Fitness Specialist certifications. He also holds his EXOS Performance Specialist certification from the world renowned training facility, EXOS, formerly API (Athlete’s Performance Institute). Also, he is in the process of getting his CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist) and FMS (Functional Movement Screening) certifications. Kyle and his staff are looking forward to their first year taking over the SMCC Women’s Soccer Program and are looking for quality players and people to help turn the program around and share in the success of SMCC Women’s Soccer.
