After Christmas break Women’s Basketball returned to action hosting Eastern Arizona in an ACCAC match up Wednesday night. An entertaining game, saw the Cougars trail 16-5 after the first quarter but rattle off 27 points in the second quarter to lead Eastern at the half 32-21. Eastern closed the gap in the second half and even took the lead late in the fourth quarter but the Cougars held strong and pulled away with big three’s late to win 64-60.
Haley Eaves lead the way for the Cougars making 5 three pointers, scoring 19 points. Both Kayla Clark and Raegene Womack were big again for South Mountain registering double doubles to pace the Cougars. Clark had 14 points and 15 rebounds and Womack had 15 points and 15 rebounds off the bench. Both players added 4 assists as well.
South Mountain improves to (6-5,3-3) on the season and travels to take on Glendale Saturday at 2pm.
