South Mountain Women’s Basketball hosted Glendale Saturday afternoon in a conference match-up. The Cougars would lead by 5 at the half 24-19. Scoring runs came from both sides in the second half but the Cougars held off a late push by the Gauchos and made shots when they needed to and beat Glendale 54-44.
Kayla Clark and Andrea Goulette lead the way for the Cougars. Clark had 16 points and 10 rebounds coming up with some huge baskets late to seal the win for the Cougs. Goulette had a great all around game scoring 9 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals. Lizette Cantu added 8 points and Ivy Cotton was big once again on the defensive end with 4 steals and 6 points. Womack had 12 rebounds off the bench.
The Cougars improve to (4-5,2-5) on the season and next travel to Douglas on January 11th to play Cochise at 530pm.
