After Christmas break Women’s Basketball returned to action hosting Eastern Arizona in an ACCAC match up Wednesday night. An entertaining game, saw the Cougars trail 16-5 after the first quarter but rattle off 27 points in the second quarter to lead Eastern at the half 32-21.
Women’s Basketball defeated Benedictine-Mesa JV in a non-conference match up Wednesday night 64-50.
Raegene Womack had 13 points, Kayla Clark had 12 and Rayonna Seamster added 11. Womack also lead the Cougars with 15 rebounds and Aarushi Snagwan added 7.
Women’s Basketball held on Wednesday night to defeat Chandler-Gilbert. A ten point halftime lead quickly diminished as the Coyotes came back in the second half to take the lead at one point. The Cougars would prevail as a good stretch at the end of the game help them pull away and win 60-51.
On December 8, 2017 South Mountain Community College will recognize Doug Ferguson, Athletics Director and Jake Harrington, Men’s Golf Head Coach as a member of the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference. This year represents the third class inducted into the ACCAC Hall of Fame.
South Mountain Women’s Basketball hosted Scottsdale Saturday night looking for their first conference victory. The first quarter would be low scoring with Scottsdale up 9-8. Going into the fourth quarter the Cougars held on to a 1 point lead 30-29.
South Mountain improved to 2-0 on the season as they erased a first half deficit and came back to defeat Benedictine-Mesa JV 69-63 on Tuesday night at home.
Rayonna Seamster and Tiondra Bishop both had 15 points off the bench to pace the Cougars scoring.
