South Mountain Women’s Basketball hosted Scottsdale Saturday night looking to beat the Artichokes on their home court for their first conference victory of the year.
South Mountain Women’s Basketball opened conference play Tuesday night at home against Mesa. Both teams were undefeated on the year so one would leave the night with their first loss.
After 14 days off since their last game to open the season the Cougars Women’s Basketball team was finally back in action Friday night as they hosted non-conference opponent USU-Eastern.
South Mountain Women’s Basketball had their season opener Saturday night as they hosted Dine College looking to snap a 53 game losing streak over the past two and a half seasons.
The Cougars were defeated in both games this past week, against Scottsdale CC and Glendale CC. However, South Mountain had the best showing of their season so far in a 7-point loss to the current #2 seed in Division 2 (SCC). The Cougars are led in scoring by sophomore Akayla Taylor’s 7.
Women’s Basketball will host the Division 2 leader, Pima CC, in our gymnasium on Wednesday, January 13th, at 5:30pm. Sophomore Akayla Taylor leads the team in scoring with 7.6 points per game and rebounding with 3.8 rebounds per game.
