Fall 2019 Comes with Perfect Attendance for 27-Year SMCC Professor
This semester set a record for SMCC veteran professor, Dr. Brian Murphy, as all 150 students from five different classes showed up to their first week of school. For the first time in his 27 years of service to SMCC as a Sociology and Psychology faculty, Dr. Murphy started the Fall term with all of his students present.
“It was a fun thing to see,” said Dr. Murphy. “Obviously if we can get students into the classroom, we can educate and inspire and help them change their lives.”
In asking his classes about attendance, his students indicated they were impacted by the college’s direct communication efforts, including SMCC’s New Student Orientation and for athletes, the Athletic Kick-Off where they learned and understood the importance of showing up to their first day of class.
“It’s good to see that our collaborative efforts have resulted in students getting the message and attending the first day,” Dr. Murphy indicated.
For Dr. Murphy, the Fall 2019 starts on a positive one, as Sociology and Psychology students will be gearing up for a successful semester at SMCC.
