EDU222: Introduction to the Exceptional Learner3 Credits

Overview of the exceptional learner with emphasis on factors relating to current practices, identification, characteristics, and educational adaptations. Issues related to mild disabilities, severe disabilities, emotional and behavioral disorders, intellectual disabilities, and students who are gifted. Prerequisites: None.

EDU222 16818 requires a 20-hour field experience in an approved K-12 classroom setting for personÆs with disabilities. The State of Arizona requires fingerprint clearance cards for all students engaged in a classroom field experience. To avoid any delay, students should begin the fingerprint clearance process prior to the start of classes. Fingerprint clearance cards may be obtained through the Arizona Department of Public Safety. There is a fee associated with this separate from tuition that will be the student's responsibility.
