Aaron Puetz

Head Women's Golf Coach, Head Men's Golf Coach

Bio

Aaron was born and raised in the Midwest. As a four-sport athlete growing up, as well as ranking at the top of his class academically, Aaron has seen success on and off of the golf course. After a stand-out junior golf career, Aaron went on to play at the University of Northern Iowa. Never finishing out of the Top 10 in his last two years of amateur golf, he went on to play professionally and has accumulated several wins on mini-tours across the country.  He has caddied for and coached players on the PGA Tour. Aaron joined the SMCC staff as an Assistant in 2014, since then the SMCC Cougars won back-to-back National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II National Championships in 2015 and 2016. The Cougars also held the No. 1 national ranking for 155 out of 156 weeks since the summer of 2013. SMCC's most decorated recruiting class claimed three Region I Championships, four Arizona Community College Athletic Conference (ACCAC) Championships and 31 tournament victories. Aaron has also helped coach two Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) Phil Mickelson National Freshman of the Year honorees and three GCAA Arnold Palmer National Champions. His student-athletes have collected a combined 25 All-American selections and 30 All-ACCAC accolades. Off the course, SMCC was named the 2018 NJCAA Academic Team of the Year with a 3.81 GPA.
