Bio

Julie Holston has been directing, teaching, and producing theatre in the Phoenix area for about 25 years. In addition to academic settings, she works locally as a freelance director/dramaturg with alternative, community and professional theatres. She holds an MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts from Goddard College, and an MA in Theatre/Directing from Roosevelt University. She has presented numerous workshops at state, national and international theatre festivals, and has studied with Tectonic Theatre Project, SITI Company, the Centre for Playback Theatre, Shakespeare & Company, and Augusto and Julian Boal. Currently serving as the Theatre Instructional Council Chair for the Maricopa Community College District, she and her students maintain active involvement in the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival, where she serves as the Region VIII Circuit 4 Coordinator. Several of the productions Julie has directed at South Mountain Community College and other venues have received ariZoni nominations in multiple categories, including Best Director and Best Overall Production.
