Honors student is an “Artist of Promise”:
The artwork of Honors scholar, Christina Chanthavong, will be exhibited at this year’s “Artists of Promise” event to be held on April 14, 2011, 7 p.m. at the Orpheum Theater in Phoenix. Christina’s piece entitled “Camouflage” was entered in this years Maricopa District Art Competition “Artist of Promise”.
The event showcases the best student artists from across the district.
“Camouflage” is a representation of camouflaging the icky, buggy situations in our society. We’ve become so fooled by the cover ups and camouflage by governments, politicians, corporations, and the media, that it’s impossible to understand what’s really happening in the world and what implications there are for future generations. Let’s take a deeper look into society and at least become aware of the issues. Let’s at least try to understand.
“I’d like to thank the Maricopa District Art Competition for selecting my piece to be displayed at the Orpheum Theatre April 14, 2011. I’d also like to give recognition to all my art instructors from high school up to college for their awesome techniques and knowledge on expanding my mind in the world of expression. And last but not least, I’d like to thank the inspirational knowledge the world has bestowed upon me, allowing me to interpret the world through my arts.”
