Description: The Certificate of Completion (CCL) in Information Technology: Cisco Networking program focuses on the skills needed to prepare for industry-recognized certifications with an emphasis on certifications at the professional-level. Knowledge and skills are developed to install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Cisco routers and components, advanced routing protocols, Local Area Networks (LANs), and Wide Area Networks (WANs); troubleshoot problems with various common hardware and software configurations; perform administrative tasks in a network. Courses in the program also focus on the skills needed to prepare for various Cisco certifications including the Cisco Certified Networking Associate (CCNA) and Cisco Certified Network Professional Certifications (CCNP). Associate in Applied Science (AAS) is also available.

  • 3. Demonstrate knowledge of network terminology and protocols, communication fundaments in Data networks and the Internet. Includes study of the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model, using a top down approach, cabling and cabling tools, basic Cisco router, configuration, Ethernet technologies, Internet Protocol (IP) addressing, and overview of Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6), basic configuring and testing of the network, and network standards.   • 4. Demonstrate the knowledge and skills to install, configure, customize, maintain and troubleshoot Cisco routers utilizing Advanced Internet Protocol (IP) addressing techniques, Variable Length Subnet Masking (VLSM), distance vectored and Link State dynamic routing protocols, Routing Internet Protocol version 1 (RIPv1) and version 2 (RIPv2), Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP), Single-area Open Shortest Path First (OSPF), and understanding the structure and behavior of routing tables.   • 5. Demonstrate the knowledge and skills to design and implement a converged switched network including switch configuration for basic functionality, implementing Virtual Local Area Networks (VLAN), VLAN Trunking Protocol (VTP), and Inter-VLAN routing in a converged network and implementing a Wireless LAN (WLAN).   • 6. Demonstrate the knowledge and skills to connect, configure, and troubleshoot TCP/IP protocols including Network Address Translation (NAT), Port Address Translation (PAT), and Dynamic Host Control Protocol (DHCP); and Wide Area Network (WAN) link topologies using Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP), Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN), Dial on Demand Routing (DDR), and Frame Relay.   • 7. Demonstrate the knowledge and skills to design a security policy and then manage, configure and troubleshoot it using Cisco Networking security solutions including Access Control Lists (ACL), Authentication, Authorization and Accounting (AAA), Virtual Private Network (VPN), and firewalls.   • 8. Demonstrate the knowledge and skills to connect, configure and troubleshoot wireless networking topologies using standardized LAN connectivity (including 802.11a & 802.11b), and WLAN Security (including Extensible Authentication Protocol (802.1x, EAP), Light Extensible Authentication Protocol (LEAP), Wired Equivalent Privacy WEP, and Service Set Identifier (SSID).
