Center for Teaching & Learning

A culture where faculty and staff come together to inquire, explore, learn, innovate, and reflect upon teaching and learning as an ongoing and collaborative process for student success.

Inquire. Explore. Innovate. Reflect.

Purpose:

The SMCC Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) supports faculty, adjunct faculty and staff. By training our employees to perform their jobs effectively, we can better serve our students. The CTL is committed to continuous revitalization and innovation in teaching and learning.

For faculty, the CTL is the hub of the campus. It serves as a learning environment in which faculty members can explore new technology, pedagogy, and discuss best practices for their classrooms.

In the process we establish a culture where faculty and staff come together to inquire, explore, learn, innovate, and reflect upon teaching and learning as an ongoing and collaborative process for student success by:

Goals:

  • Engaging and innovative pedagogies, research, and academic programs that foster learning and student success
  • Exciting and relevant collaborations that push the frontiers of learning, discovery, and problem solving
  • New applications of technology that promote innovation, engagement, efficiency and effectiveness
  • Mediate technology acceptance and pedagogical best practices through faculty for student learning, on and offline.
