Origins: Celebrating 40 Years of SMCC

South Phoenix Oral History Project screening

Save the Date! The South Phoenix Oral History Project will be premiering the documentary, Origins: Celebrating 40 Years of South Mountain Community College.

In 2017, twelve SMCC students embarked on a class project to research and reclaim the history of South Phoenix. They launched a local oral history project, reaching out to business leaders and educators in the community to ask questions about local history, and bring to life the story and significance of South Mountain Community College.

In celebration of SMCC's 40th anniversary, students and faculty produced Origins: Celebrating 40 Years of South Mountain Community college, and will premiere March 27 at 6 pm.

Screening will be followed by a founders panel, featuring SMCC Founding President, Dr. Raul Cardenas, and a Q&A session.
