The Maricopa Community Colleges to Hold Community Forums on Athletic Programs

TEMPE, AZ, July 1, 2020 — The Maricopa County Community College District (MCCCD) will hold two virtual community forums concerning the recent recommendation of the System's ten college presidents to temporarily suspend athletic programs during the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Steven R. Gonzales, Interim Chancellor, will host the events in collaboration with the Maricopa Center for Learning and Innovation (MCLI) and Deanna Villanueva-Saucedo, Director of Community Engagement for the District as the event moderator.

The virtual community forums will provide a platform for faculty, staff, students, and community members to vocalize their concerns and questions about temporarily suspending MCCCD athletic programs. Much like a Citizen’s Interim at the MCCCD Governing Board meetings, participants should limit their opinions and thoughts to three minutes each. While the District will try to hear from as many participants as possible, it is also encouraged to share your thoughts in advance of and during each session.
