Marquis Scott
Marquis Scott is a higher education professional, community leader, and lifelong advocate for student success who has called Phoenix, Arizona home since 1993 after relocating from the Chicago area.
Marquis recently served as the Director of Student Development for Career Services at Grand Canyon University, where he supported students in career exploration, professional development, and post-graduation success. His diverse professional background includes leadership roles as President of the Queen Creek Chamber of Commerce, Director of Operations and Marketing for the Greater Phoenix Black Chamber of Commerce, and Partnership Specialist with the U.S. Census Bureau. He has also worked in the insurance and food service industries, bringing a broad range of experiences to his leadership and service.
Henry Smith
Henry Smith serves as a Student Services Analyst in Career Services at South Mountain Community College, where he is dedicated to helping students navigate their academic and professional journeys. With 17 years of experience in education, Henry brings a wealth of knowledge from his previous roles as a high school English teacher, K-12 principal, and program manager for federal educational grants. He holds a Master’s degree in Education and a Bachelor’s in English from Pacific Lutheran University. Outside of the office, Henry is an avid musician who builds custom electric guitars and plays in music groups around the valley.
