Myth Informed: The Shahnameh presented by Diana Dinshaw

The Shahnameh (The Book of Kings) is an epic poem in farsi authored by the Persian poet Abul Qasem Ferdowsi sometime between 977 and 1010 CE. It is considered one of the longest epic poems with 50,000 couplets spanning multiple generations covering the history of ancient Persia. Like any epic it contains stories of heroes and villains, love and betrayal, war and victory, all to teach the moral virtues like worshiping one God, patriotism, love of family and helping the poor.

Diana Dinshaw will be telling the love story of Zal and Rudaba, how the curse of being related to Zohak the Dragon King came between their love and ending with the battle between Rostam and Sohrab, father and son.
