Orange Shirt Day - National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

Orange Tshirt day

Wear Orange September 30 for National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

In 2021, the remains of over 6,500 children were discovered across Canada and the United States near former residential and boarding schools. The discovery of these remains has been heartbreaking. Yet, it allowed them the opportunity to return to their homelands and to send them on to the spirit world with respect and dignity.

Canada recognizes the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30 to honor residential school survivors, commemorate the legacy of these schools, and as a permanent reminder of the nation’s history. In addition, the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is a significant step toward collective healing and understanding between First Nations and their government.
