The term Two Spirit serves as an umbrella identity for Native American individuals who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, or gender-diverse. The Gathering embraces the acronym 2SLGBTQIA+, placing “2S” first to center Indigenous identities and acknowledge their long-standing presence prior to colonial influence.
This year’s Rainbow Gathering will foster learning, awareness, and empowerment through engaging discussions, keynote presentations, and cultural recognition. Keynote speaker Dr. Charlie Amáyá Scott (Diné) will lead the program, along with featured presenters Byron Upshaw (Diné), Trudie Jackson (Diné), and Curtis Davia (San Carlos Apache), who will share insights on topics ranging from wellness and community to Two Spirit health.
