Meet Sylvia Rios:

I am a mature student who is eager to learn new things! I am a proud member of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe and praise them for watching me through my whole educational journey with resilience and dedication. To this day, my tribe continues to ride with me.

My education started in 2017, when I received my GED in October of that same year, taking me six months to achieve. Soon after, I enrolled at South Mountain Community College and earned my Associate's degree in May 2020. Then, not skipping a beat, I enrolled at ASU Downtown Phoenix, where I received my Bachelor's Degree in Social Work in May 2022.

I am now attending graduate school and am pursuing a Master's Degree in Social Work in the Advanced Standing Program. This program allows me to earn my degree in one year versus two years, helping me move faster in my path. I will achieve my MSW in the Spring of 2023, an accomplishment I am incredibly proud of.
