The National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) has approved South Mountain Community College (SMCC) to be an Approved Continuing Education Provider (ACEP) for its live educational training program. This designation allows SMCC to begin offering continuing education that qualifies for NBCC credit.

Continuing education is an integral part of professional practice, and with this designation, SMCC will now be listed on the NBCC website as a continuing education partner provider, click here.

“This opens the door for counselors and mental health professionals looking for ongoing training to turn to SMCC to earn the needed credits to renew their license,” said Dr. Thomas Rojo Aubrey, SMCC’s Behavioral sciences program director. “We’re thrilled to be recognized by the NBCC, as this – along with the college’s bachelor’s degree program – recognizes the continued successful evolution and expansion of the Behavioral Sciences division at SMCC.”

Some of SMCC's professional training opportunities include professional resilience and well-being, mindfulness, and trauma-informed care. Additional opportunities will be available on the college’s website moving forward, accompanied by the official ACEP seal.
