South Mountain Community College recently received the honor of being ranked the No. 4 Best Community College in Arizona by SmartAsset.
SmartAsset, a financial technology company based in New York, conducted the study in August 2025 ranking 585 community colleges across the country to determine both the best colleges nationwide and by state.
The schools included in the ranking had to follow the criteria of being two-year colleges offering associate’s degrees with at least 500 full-time students enrolled. Each school was examined through a comprehensive evaluation to explore the overall student experience based on a number of factors such as cost of tuition and fees, student-to-faculty ratio, and retention rates. The data used in this study was obtained from the 2023-2024 school year.
