Chancellors Medallion

SMCC President Veronica Hipolito; Victor Ayala; Kenneth Medina, husband of Perla Rodriguez; SMCC Director of Student Life and Leadership Lucero Curiel Martinez

SMCC students Victor Ayala and Perla Rodriguez were awarded the Chancellor’s Civic Leadership Medallion, which highlights student accomplishments related to inspired and effective civic engagement and leadership. Students can earn the Chancellor's Civic Leadership Medallion by demonstrating how they have worked to make a difference in the community, as well as how they have developed the necessary skills to do so effectively.

Victor earned the medallion for his tireless efforts in bridging the gap between the college and the surrounding community. He has been a key organizer for volunteer events and has championed initiatives that support local businesses and residents. His commitment to service exemplifies the spirit of the award.

Perla received the award due to her civic engagement in her local community and college. She is the SMCC Student Public Policy Forum Representative and is a STEM student who is passionate about social justice and increasing voting awareness and fighting for K-12 public education. Perla can be found speaking to a state representative at the capitol and protesting in Washington DC. She is the definition of a civic leader and very deserving of the Chancellor's Civic Leadership Medallion.

Congratulations to these amazing SMCC students!
