Withdrawal Policy

Withdrawal Policy

Absences may begin to accumulate with the first scheduled class meeting. Students who fail to attend the first scheduled class meeting, or fail to contact the instructor about missing the first scheduled class meeting, may, at the option of the instructor, be withdrawn.

Students bear the responsibility of notifying the Enrollment Services Office when they discontinue studies in a course or at the college. Please refer to the Maricopa Community College District Withdrawal Procedures.

Eligibility for refunds and withdrawal are determined by the date the request for withdrawal is received by SMCC Enrollment Services. Additional information may be found in the SMCC Catalog, in the sections entitled “Important Deadlines For Students,” “Withdrawal Policy,” and “Refund Policy.”

Note: It is the student’s responsibility to consult with the instructor regarding official or unofficial absences. Students who do not meet the attendance requirement as determined by the course instructor may be withdrawn.

NEVER ATTENDING is not an allowable refund exception or an excuse of the debt incurred through registration. Please refer to the Refund Policy.
